While we are waiting for SORA, Luma AI came with their AI Video Generator that you can use right now. It’s open to access for the public with about 30 free videos to try and test it.
Luma AI’s Dream Machine is Open for Public
Luma AI is the San Francisco-based artificial intelligence startup that dropped the next big thing called Dream Machine, an AI video generator like OpenAI’s SORA. It can create high-quality videos with a speed of 1 frame per second, so a 5-second video in 2 minutes only.
People are already using it and sharing their creations. They also want to see how good it is and will it be able to compete with the big giants. A few months ago both Microsoft previewed VASA-1 and we got introduced to Google’s Veo. We also looked into some Chinese competitors like Vidu and the just recently launched Kling AI.
All of these AI video models have provided us with jaw-dropping video outputs, almost erasing the gap between reality and generated content.
How to Access Dream Machine?
While most of these Text-to-Video AI Generative Tools are still in the testing phase and not open for public access, Luma AI thought why don’t we be one of the first players to fill up this vacant space in the AI market? So, now the question is how you can get your hands on it.
Well, it’s very easy, here are a few steps to access Luma AI’s Dream Machine for free.
- Go to Luma AI’s Dream Machine page.
- Click on the Try Now button at the top right corner of your screen.
- You will be asked to Sign In with your Google account.
- In the prompt bar, type your video idea or attach images.
- Your video generation request will be queued and will be ready in a few minutes.
The free version gives you 30 generations per month. You can also purchase the paid plans that can go up to 2,000 generation for a month.
Note that due to high demand in the initial days, it will take more time to create the AI videos with it. So, be patient!
What’s Makes It Special?
Here are 3 amazing features of Dream Machine that you need to know:
- High-Speed Iteration: Dream Machine is a video generator that comes with incredibly fast iteration speed. It can produce almost 120 frames in 120 seconds. !Dream Machine will break down your idea into frames, and construct those frames one by one.
- Action Packed Shots: Dream Machine produces five-second shots with drama, cinematography, and realistic, fluid motion. Transform the lifeless into the living. Turn snapshots into stories.
- Consistent Characters: Dream Machine can comprehend interactions between humans, animals, and things in the real world. This makes it possible for you to produce films with excellent character consistency and realistic physics.
A few months ago, Midjourney took their image generation technology to new levels with the consistent characters feature and now Dream Machine looks to do the same for their videos.
Some Amazing Examples of AI Videos made with it
Thanks to Dream Machine’s technology, a vast array of individuals and businesses may now make original video content at a never-before-seen pace and scale. The system’s capacity to accurately portray designated objects, characters, activities, and environments while preserving smooth motion and logical narration has been highly commended by early beta testers.
These are some videos created by Dream Machine that will change your view on AI video generation forever.
Let’s start with a simple video of A Captivating Waterall in the midst of Nature:

In all of the above videos, you will find that the video quality is excellent, and the bodily mechanics are top-notch. Also, the sound qualities generated have good quality and add another level of depth to the videos.
So, Is Dream Machine as good as SORA?
Based on the video results obtained by content creators and editors worldwide, Dream Machine’s videos don’t fail to impress us with their creativity and the perfect encapsulation of bodily mechanics and real-time simulation of consistent characters.
Also, it is up for Open Access which makes it a better choice than Sora. However, Sora still takes the lead when it comes to video quality. Sora’s videos looked crystal clear when the trials came out, and it became pretty tough to distinguish them from reality.
Another thing is that Sora can extend your videos even further, or even take them backwards based on your prompt. I don’t see any sort of this feature from Dream Machine yet, maybe it will come up with something more interesting soon.
In the meantime, we should enjoy what we have on our hands as Dream Machine is available to us for Open Access. We are getting the freedom to create what we want, regardless of the quality, duration, or additional features.
Conclusion
Dream Machine may not be the best AI video tool out there, but the free access makes it a worthy one to try. This is just the beginning of the journey for Luma AI and it will surely come up with more updates that take Dream Machine to new heights!
