Let\u2019s get early insights into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Elon Musk announced that Grok, xAI\u2019s state-of-the-art chatbot, will be made open source by this week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Currently, the beta version has been rolled out to premium subscribers of X in the USA.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Programmed and designed to be answerable on several wide range of topics and political subjects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Grok by xAI is Now Open-Source<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Elon Musk has made quite the groundbreaking announcement that Grok AI will be made open-source in March 2024. <\/strong>It was limited to Premium+ subscribers of X (formerly Twitter) earlier, but making code available to everyone is a huge development in the Generative AI domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div align=\"center\"><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This week, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/xai?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@xAI<\/a> will open source Grok<\/p>&mdash; Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1767108624038449405?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">March 11, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Grok was made by the xAI&#8217;s team <a href=\"https:\/\/x.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">announced in November 2023<\/a>. They claim it to be a highly efficient chatbot, designed to answer almost anything and everything. It has been programmed to be witty and satirical in its responses, so it may just be the chatbot for users who love humor.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It takes its knowledge base from X\u2019s real-time knowledge platform. This empowers it to answer almost every question that would have been rejected by several other chatbots in existence. It was designed mainly to garner and provide knowledge on subjects and political views on a highly diverse aspect.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This new AI cahtbot is highly promising in terms of accessing content and topics which has not been possible with the likes of OpenAI\u2019s ChatGPT and Google\u2019s Gemini. In this aspect, it may give high competition to the newly released Anthropic\u2019s Claude 3, which comes with fewer refusals to harmless questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Grok\u2019s Architecture and Benchmarks<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Grok\u2019s LLM model is powered by its engine, Grok-1. Further training was conducted on one of the model\u2019s prototypes Grok-0 across 33 billion parameters.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Grok had impressive benchmark scores when it was announced in November. Using typical LM benchmarks, this model approaches the capabilities of LLaMA 2 (70B) while utilizing only half of its training resources.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the good news for developers is that it also has highly efficient coding and reasoning capabilities. It has surpassed the likes of GPT-3.5 and Inflection 1 in several aspects of coding, math, and reasoning. It only falls behind those models which have been trained with significantly larger data and computational resources such as GPT-4 and Claude 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, don\u2019t let these deviate you from the fact that Grok has immense potential when it comes to going beyond the standard norm for topics. The developer community can\u2019t wait to see how xAI&#8217;s challenger to ChatGPT will provide us with humorous content across topics we could never imagine before!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Grok is Made Open-Source?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Following Elon Musk\u2019s latest lawsuit against OpenAI and criticisms against Google Gemini\u2019s Image Generation capabilities, the open-sourcing of xAI\u2019s Grok may just be the right step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Musk criticized OpenAI in his lawsuit claiming that the company had shifted away from its mission of providing its technology for the betterment of humanity. OpenAI has kept GPT-4\u2019s internal design a complete secret as of now.
